Travel Baseball Costs: Hidden Fees Parents Don’t Realize
Travel baseball costs can range anywhere $300 to $950 a month depending on your child’s travel baseball age group. This just includes team dues and tournament fees.
If a team plays in locations far away, the additional costs for lodging and food can easily add an extra $1,000 to $2,000 a month.

Most travel baseball teams keep these costs separate but some organizations add the tournament fees into the monthly team dues.

There are also additional travel baseball expenses that most parents don’t realize when they first get their child started.
New Uniforms For Every Season
Your child will be required to be new uniforms every season.
These can range anywhere from $100 to $500 per season
Food, Lodging and Travel Costs
Food, travel, and lodging add to the cost especially if your family has to stay overnight.
These can add an additional $500 – $2,000 a month and dramatically increases the cost of travel baseball.
Parking and Tournament Entrance Fees
Some tournaments charge for parking and many locations also charge an entrance fee that can range anywhere from $5 to $10 per day.
Equipment Costs
If your child is new to travel baseball, they will need to buy a travel baseball bat and that will be an additional one time cost of $100 to $500.
There are also other popular gear such as elbow guards, sliding mitts, etc. that your child will want once he sees other kids having it.
These will add an additional $100 – $300 a year.
Additional Training Costs
Another unexpected cost (one that I didn’t expect when my oldest son started to play travel ball) were the fees for additional training and lessons.
There are always additional workouts, clinics or private lessons to participate in and the reality is that if your child doesn’t attend at least some of these, they will very quickly get left behind.
Travel baseball is very competitive in 2026 and unless you do extra training, it is hard for your child to keep up.
How Much Does Travel Baseball Cost?
It can be very expensive to play travel ball.
Don’t just factor the monthly team fees.
If you add the travel baseball expenses we highlighted above, the real answer is around $750 – $1,000 a month especially if you have to play outside your local area.
